MSUG General MeetingBailey's Sports Grille, 22091 Michigan Ave., Dearborn, MI 481245/15/20135/15/2013Kevin Kohls, the president of Kohls Consulting, gave an excellent presentation on Lean Accounting. The presentation focused on the basics of financial decision-making summarized in his book The Conflicted Middle—Lean Accounting. After the presentation, attendees enjoyed discussing it, plus getting acquainted with each others' recent work and making new friends, over an informal dinner.
SPAR International 2013Colorado Springs, CO4/15/20134/18/2013The SPAR International Conference on End-to-End 3D encompassed presentations and discussions on the latest tools and techniques for using 3D technologies to drive efficiency, improve workflows, reduce project timelines, improve safety and mitigate risk . Capture methods range from static, mobile mapping, portable laser scanning, unmanned vehicles (UAVs), Kinect and more. Presentations delivered the latest solutions for point cloud processing, software integration and workflows, 3D/4D GIS, BIM, open source options, and more. Visualization and delivery discussions addressed web sharing, augmented reality, simulation, asset virtualization, urban visualization and photo-realistic representation and 3D printing.
International Simulation Conference of IndiaChennai, India2/21/20132/23/2013ISCI provided a meeting place for simulation engineers, practitioners, researchers, and vendors working in the area of system simulation across disciplines in industry, service, government, and academia. Sanjay Upendram of Amarthi Consulting and Sheldon Bailiff of Ryder gave excellent keynote addresses. Many students from IIT presented simulation studies, and the exhibit hall provided valuable information on powerful simulation software.
WSC 2012Berlin, Germany12/9/201212/12/2012The Winter Simulation Conference, a conference with a proud pedigree, authors from 40 countries, 17 parallel tracks, a PhD colloquium for upcoming talent, and a full set of exhibitors, moved outside the United States, to Berlin, Germany for the first time in a history spanning nearly half a century. PMC's Göteborg, Sweden, and Dearborn, Michigan (USA) offices jointly presented a paper on the education and training of future simulation professionals; the Dearborn office, in conjunction with the University of Michigan - Dearborn, presented a paper on avoiding pitfalls of simulation projects. The India office (PMI) presented two case studies.
Michigan Simulation Users Group Annual ConferenceManagement Education Center, Troy, Michigan10/17/201210/17/2012With the fall came the annual MSUG annual conference, which was one of the best in many years. Three very interesting speakers covered simulation in health care, in the automotive industry, and its relationship of usage to corporate culture. Attendance increased to over 50, and seven exhibitors came.

Worldwide specialists seized the opportunity to participate and interact to this important forum. PMC presented a paper describing a logistics and queueing application at this conference.
I3M 2012 MulticonferenceVienna, Austria9/19/20129/21/2012The MAS Conference concentrated on applied Modeling & Simulation (M&S) and computer technologies; application fields include logistics, supply chain management, production control, business and industrial organization. The audience included users, vendors, and scientists active in applying advanced techniques to industry, business and services.
ECMS 2012Koblenz, Germany5/29/20126/1/2012The European Conference on Modelling and Simulation (ECMS) is the international conference dedicated to help define the state of the art in the field. For several years, ECMS has proven to be an outstanding forum for researchers and practitioners from different fields involved in creating, defining and building innovative simulation systems, simulation and modelling tools and techniques, and novel applications for modelling and simulation. At this conference, PMC presented the paper, jointly written by four PMC colleagues, "Development and Use of a Generic AS/RS Sizing Simulation Model" in the Logistics and Transport track. Conference attendance exceeded 130.
IIE 2012 Annual ConferenceOrlando, Florida5/19/20125/23/2012The IIE Annual Conference is unlike any other for quality, productivity and efficiency professionals -- the flagship conference of the society.
