Streamline Operations and Reduce Costs with Proven Work Measurement Solutions

Work measurement consulting helps organizations assess and refine their processes by analyzing the time and effort needed to complete tasks. Using proven methods like MODAPTS®, it identifies inefficiencies, standardizes work, and optimizes resource allocation.

PMC’s work measurement consulting provides precise data on task performance, enabling informed decision-making, reducing labor costs, and boosting productivity.

Work Measurement Capabilities and Benefits

  • Process benchmarking to track and enhance performance.
  • Task time analysis to identify inefficiencies.
  • Standardized work development for consistency.
  • Labor cost reduction through optimized workflows.
  • Resource allocation planning for improved productivity.
  • Better decision-making with accurate performance data.

Work Measurement Techniques

Work Sampling

This statistical technique is used to analyze non-repetitive tasks with long cycle times by measuring the proportion of time subjects, such as workers or machines, spend on specific activities. It calculates total task time, machine and manpower utilization, and allowances.

MODAPTS

Work Sampling is ideal for analyzing non-repetitive, long-cycle tasks, while PMTS methods such as MODAPTS, MOST, and MTM are better suited for repetitive, short-cycle tasks in direct labor roles. MODAPTS, in particular, efficiently calculates task times, helping organizations improve productivity, optimize labor planning, and reduce operational costs.

Predetermined Motion Time Systems (PMTS)

Set production time standards by analyzing processes step by step and assigning precise time values, unlike stopwatch studies that depend on timing and subjective effort ratings. PMC’s expertise in PMTS (MODAPTS, MTM, and MOST) supports labor cost control, cost estimation, process improvement, training, planning, scheduling, production line balancing, and incentive plans.

Time Studies

Time studies measure task time while accounting for variance, delays, rest, and personal needs. Stopwatch studies are the most common approach, focusing on work elements with clear end points and short durations for straightforward timing. However, PMC encourages the use of modern methods, which offer greater accuracy, consistency, and efficiency compared to traditional stopwatch time studies.
